The rooms are exquisite. So quaint and charming. Our room (the Cameron) was small, but enough space for two. The bathroom is large and features a tub and shower. The bed was extremely comfortable, with lots of pillows that can be used to recline on, or pushed off the bed for the guest's comfort. The Inn was extremely quiet, day and night, so are sleep was most restful.
The main room of the Inn has a refrigerator and counter along one side; the refrigerator has a pitcher of lemonade, iced tea and cold water that are continuously replenished for guests to enjoy refreshments any time, day or night. The counter offers a fresh supply of fresh-baked cookies as well as candies. The cookies are scrumptious and the drinks are refreshing.
Finally, I will say a word about Kevin and Elyse, our hosts. They own the Inn and do all work involved in its operation themselves, and they do it cheerfully. Elyse mentioned in a conversation that they love the work, and it shows in everything they do. They are the kindest and most gracious hosts. The comfort of their guests is paramount to them, and they see to every little detail to make their guests' stays as pleasurable and stress-free as possible. I strongly recommend this B&B for anyone looking to stay in southwestern Wisconsin for a few days, especially couples looking for a romantic getaway.
Wonderful place to stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing. The owners are some of the nicest people you could meet. They even had a fire pit after dark. We had a great stay and plan to come back.
Just returned from a stay at the Silver Star...we loved it and would recommend to anyone who loves the rustic, beauty of the outdoors, peaceful surroundings and kind host and hostess. We were very comfortable in our room and was a relaxed setting. Owners are very kind and helpful with any questions etc you might have. Made us feel right at home. Would definitely stay again if we ever get back that way. Wisconsin is beautiful and this place is really quite close to a lot of little towns as well to explore. Just a word to you who are using a GPS to find the place, put in Avoca as the town and not Spring Green and you will have no problems. Thanks Kevin and Elise and pray your new adventure goes well!
My husband and I stayed this past weekend at the Silver Star Inn and it was wonderful! It's a beautiful place with a rustic decor, exceptionally clean and a very warm, comfy feel. There's a beautiful living room with a stone fireplace where guests are free to relax or read or visit with each other, whatever suits their fancy. There's an indoor dining room on the other side of the living room that has lovely wood tables. Outdoor seating is also available on the large front porch (overlooking a pretty garden) with tables and chairs. The Inn is set back in the woods, so visitors can enjoy the sounds of wildlife and observe a multitude of birds coming to the bird feeders, and hummingbirds and butterflies hovering about the garden flowers to sip nectar. Evening sounds are beautiful, too. One could not ask for a more tranquil and idyllic setting.
What a relaxing retreat for us. We enjoyed awesome company with the owners. Will be looking forward to returning.
The breakfasts are a special treat. The food is always warm and fresh made. The innkeepers, Elyse and Kevin, do all the cooking and everything was delicious. They were filling, too. After breakfast, neither of us were in the least bit hungry until later afternoon.
I could not love this place more. Owners are two of the friendliest people I have ever met. The property is beyond gorgeous, and the rooms are very cozy. Breakfast is delicious and filling. Under recent new ownership, it's still going under some renovations, but it doesn't cause for any issues. This place really makes you feel like part of the family. I couldn't recommend it enough.
